My high school classmate mentioned a wonderful site as I was inquiring about getting eyeglasses. Over lunch, she told me that Zennioptical offer a great selections of glasses at an inexpensive prices. Everything you every want from name-brand to metal, plastic, steel, titanium and even hundreds of shapes of frames to choose from. What are you waiting for? Let’s go shopping!
For many Americans, tax season is one of the most stressful period where everyone is rushing to beat the dead line, but after April 15, many are out celebrating especially if they got a refund from the government. My husband and I have always wanted to take a vacation to recharge ourselves as well as take in a few activities, but we were having a difficult time deciding as each locations has it uniqueness.
This morning my best friend called and proposed a class reunion this summer in San Diego as most of my college classmates have moved to California. San Diego is a wonderful city as it provided many activities for single as well as, families. There is Sea World, Lego Land, golf, shopping and many restaurants around town. Since our groups is quite large and many of them have young kids, we opted to not stay in a hotel, but to look into california vacation rentals and Pacific Beach Vacation Rentals. My classmate called the san diego property management to see if we could get a group rate discount.
I am definitely looking forward to this class reunion as I have not seen most of my college classmates in many years. It also a great way to spend our tax refund and take a worthwhile vacation.

What do you enjoyed eating on a rainy day? For me, it’s the love of ramen. There something about the steaming hot bowl of noodles that just warm you up on a cold day. With the expansion of Goma Tei, (yes! another locations has been added at Ala Moana Shopping Center), we decided to drop by and try out the newest location.
Goma Tei Restaurant is known for their famous “Tan Tan Ramen” which is noodles made with a spicy, nutty broth. I heard the broth is boiled for couple of hours and that it is good for you. My husband ordered their Char-Siu Tan Tan Ramen which also comes with choi sum. The char-siu were quite large and flavorful. I, on the other hand, opted for the Vegetable Tan Tan Ramen which is topped with choi sum, carrots, green onions and 3 different kinds of mushrooms. The broth was spicy and so delicious.
The place was busy and there was a sign up sheet located near the door, but the wait was worth it. It definately fulfilled the need of 2 hungry stomachs.

I’ve always love eating spicy food whether it is sushi with wasabi sauce, Vietnamese sandwiches with chill pepper or extra spicy Ma-Po tofu with rice. About two weeks ago, my husband I went to a Korean restaurant located near his workplace. The food was so delicious, but what I really enjoyed were the many side dishes (banchan) that they served during the meal.
The meat were marinated for intense flavored and cut into small sizes so there was no need for any knifes. Traditional Korean food is eaten with stainless steel chopsticks and spoon so any of the food were served too large (eg. whole grilled fish), it can easily be split with the chopsticks.
The most common spices and sauces used in Korean dishes are: sesame oil, chili pepper paste (kochujang), chili pepper flakes (kochukaru), soybean paste (daenjang), soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and scallions. This is to helped preserve the food.

Having spent 6 years in New York City, one of my most favorite things to do is travel. With the Big Apple being in the center of it all, it was very convenient and easy to get around the east coast. There were a number of airports both big and small, rather inexpensive bus tours and the reliable train systems.
One weekend, I decided to meet up with a friend who was living and working in New Jersey. The first place we visited was Princeton University. I have always been a fan of education and love the architecture of the buildings. There is a consistent Collegiate Gothic style everywhere including the largest and most famous archway on campus, Blair Arch.
Princeton University was founded in 1746 and is one of the eight universities of the Ivy League. The campuses are situated about one hour from both New York City and Philadelphia. The oldest building is Nassau Hall built in 1754 and the newest one is Lewis Library.
I really enjoyed walking around this university and chatting with some of the students. We even enjoyed some delicious Indian food at a nearby cafe. It was definitely a changes from the concrete jungles of the Big Apple.
Interesting fact: Our first lady, Michelle Obama, graduated from Princeton University.

When one’s thinks of the Hawaiian Islands, often times Hula is associated with it. Hula is a way of life for most Hawaiian and is past from generations to generations, from mother to daughters, father to sons and teachers to students. Dancing the Hula demands dedication and devotion. It is an art form of story telling through beautiful hand motions, chants and songs.
Every year after the Easter holidays, hundreds of people all over the world gather in Hilo, Hawaii to witness the Merry Monarch. It is our King Kalakaua who brought back this ancient art and under his reign, Hula revived and was once again celebrated. In honored of that, King Kalakaua was known as the “Merry Monarch.”
In 1971, the first competitive Merrie Monarch competition took place at the Hilo Civic Auditorium. Nine groups participated and was well received by the audiences. A few years later, with the introduction of men partipants, audiences cheers as they quickly fell in love with the rapid changing and develpments of Hula. Dancers and audiences kept returning every years that the Merry Monarch had to be relocated to a larger area. In 1979, it’s was moved to Edith Kanakoole Stadium. And every year after that, without any interrruption, the Merrie Monarch been seen live by people all over the world and it cover on all State-wide television.
In the Merry Monarch, there are two divisions of group competition, the male (kane) division and the female (wahine) division. Each halau or groups has up to seven minutes on stage and during their performance, they are judged on a variety of things. Similar to the Winter Olympics, judges are looking for different elements in each performance. They are judged on the entrance (kaʻi), the chant (oli), the dance (hula) and finally the exit off stage (hoʻi). The groups are scored on each aspect of the performance and up to 30 halau compete each year. Tickets usually sell out extremely quickly.
